NABS was founded by Nabila Lester, an American Film, Television, and Documentary Producer/Director/Writer with over 20 years’ experience in the Hollywood film industry and abroad. Born and raised in Harlem, NY, Nabila completed her undergraduate degree at University of California – Berkeley, and went on to earn her Master’s in film production from University of Southern California, School of Cinematic Arts.6

Nabila has worked as a filmmaker for PBS, Hallmark, ABC, The Emmy’s and TEDX, to name a few. In two years of residency in Lagos, Nigeria she was Producer/Director of CNN’s feature documentary show, African Voices. In addition, she directed commercial projects for top companies with offices in Nigeria, including Coca – Cola, Google, Uber, Etisalat, and Hennessey.

 

As the CEO of Nabs International Productions her creative works have been screened and earned awards at Sundance, Slamdance, The Pan African Film Festival, Tribeca, The San Francisco Film Festival and, most recently the May 2024 Cannes Film Festival .

 

Nabila's travel and residencies to various countries of African and the African Diaspora have bolstered her love for their cultures and histories and created a lifelong commitment to telling stories of and by African peoples worldwide. 

.Nabila currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia and has, for the last five years, been a Professor in the Film and Television Department at SCAD (Savannah College of Art and Design), Atlanta.
